Camp NaNoWriMo Day 01
So I think along with yesterday’s progress I have the premise nailed down and also the full ending and the general structure. I have the whole beginning, the entire conflict, I even have the first ~mini arc? Like how the character (whose name I also have I’m just not confident enough to say it yet, I named her after an American Idol contestant whose name is fucking COOL YO x)) will fit into the world and how she will start off on her journey. I have 3-4 other characters generally outlined, I have the BFF character almost completely thought out, he’s gonna be lovely.
I want to do a little like, almost episodic thing that I wanted to do back with my Part Time Goner story (the one that had the evil demigod character named Cephas whose name I then gave the guy in Vale who’s everything but evil x)) that they will go through like mini arcs that leads them to the Big Reveal (u just gotta have those ok, that’s just my thang yall) and then it splits there cause it’s only then that they’ll even realise what the story even is about x)
And then the second half of the story is just the lead-up to the Final Confrontation.
I pretty much have the entire ending and where the story will end. Which is cool. I mean I always do but still. It’s always the easiest part. Once I figured out how I can bring the most out of the base conflict which changed a lot since the first version it was pretty easy, now it’s the middle that I gotta figure out how to do best. I also have like smaller beats and character moments in the middle.
I want to have lots of genres in there, I’ve been aching to write a good horror story so I want to have some of that, I also want to have a proper heist arc, lots of environments, lots of characters (it’s time to try to do lots of characters again, I haven’t managed it since The Rains Come and that was four years ago), and because it’s not on Earth and it involves magic I can do whatever I want. I just don’t want to get overwhelmed with possibilities and stuff I still want to have it in a tangible context. Magic’s scary I only ever did two stories with magic in them. One was semi-magic that I fake-science’d my way out, and Vale involved very little magic and the bigger magic it had was all kinda like not explained at all, it just happened cause it wasn’t important.
IT’S A LOT, OKAY. I just want to take it one step at a time so I’m glad I nailed down the basics. I dumped all the exposition and the ending into one Word file so tomorrow I’m going to start an ~arc-by-arc file where I sort of outline the chronological order of events not just in a huge block of text but so that my ADD brain fucking UNDERSTANDS IT.
Also I don’t have a title yet o_o Which is strange, I usually have a title very early on into planning and this planning has gone for months now.
