Talk.
This thing that is most commonly called writers block, you gotta talk it through. Talking about writing can be inspiring. Even when you are so sick of writing, of your story, of even thinking about your book.
Talk about it anyway.
I was having a conversation with my favourite writerly friend, about the intricacies of language and double meanings and she made a comment something along the lines of: "Writing dialogue is too hard, Maybe I can write silent novels. Nobody speaks. They all just watch paint dry.“
Which I found to be incredibly inspirational, I replied automatically, I said:
"The wall used to be a stark Antique White USA beige, but now, as Peter sat crossed legged on the table and watched, it was a bright Look At The Stars yellow.”
A micro story of despair, hope and watching the paint dry. A Very Important part of my ‘recovery’ from writer’s block. It’s not that great of a story, It’s not very long, it doesn’t flow, it’s not anything particularly special, but, it is writing.
And that in itself is important.
My point here, is community. Don’t forget to bounce your thoughts of other people.Talk to them about their writing.Talk about your writing. Write about your writing. Conversations on the internet counts as ‘talking.’ Creating a Youtube account to talk about your writing is also a form of conversation.
The complete lack of words coming out of you head and hands right now doesn’t have to be a silence.
Please talk about writing. Talk to me, if you have nobody else 🙂
