You have a 12 in an ability score, putting you clearly above the average human being? More like 5% better
Passive checks with stuff like history make a LOT more sense- then your 17 is good and your 10 is not so the stats make more of a difference
Knowledge checks aren’t based on luck in the moment generally so….
