It’s kinda funny how both The Rains Come and Vale kind of end in similar ways. The Rains Come ends with them defeating the baddies and then Nuori sets up the new order and then June leaves, and Vale ends with
I wasn’t tagged in this but it looked interesting and since I’m a Fiction Frankenstein just putting my works together from pieces of other’s people’s works this should be nice x) This tag was created by tumblr user quill-of-thoth.
Rules: Give a short summary of your WIP, name 7 books, TV Shows, games, movies, comics, etc. that have influenced your story, and tag 7 people.
I’ll just do like, the major influence(s) for more of my stories cause… yes.
July 14th a train station traps people (mostly kids) where they have to live, technically forever since they don’t age, and a train comes from time to time to take one kid away from time to time and they’re never seen again.
This was inspired by Spirited Away, specifically the image during the credits.
I can’t recall if this is actually a train station in the movie but I based the train station on this image and the whole “getting trapped in a magical but dangerous world” concept was the same idea as well. The part where Chihiro goes to visit the other old lady, you know, where the train runs in really shallow water, I think that’s where my love of trains began 😀
Leaper Chase O’Donoghue has superhuman powers of seeing into the future and mind control. She foresees the destruction of her hometown and even though she eventually stops the disaster, the town then starts literally disappearing into thin air.
Leaper was entirely inspired by the TV show Fringe, even though the original idea OR what eventually Leaper turned out to be has got nothing to do with it. Georgia’s senile scientist character is Walter Bishop hands down. Luckily, Fringe is a pretty broad umbrella show for all things crazy science-y and borderline magic-y, but of course I was still big on Doctor Who if I remember correctly which is where the timey-wimey mindfuckery’s coming from.
The Rains Come It’s the zombie apocalypse. Ready, set, survive!
The Last of Us. Just… just the video game. The whole of it. I’d just come back from Rome where my friend Giules INFECTED ME with video game and I really fucking loved zombies at the time. Also since I got into video games I also got into Telltale’s The Walking Dead (and I think I was still watching the TV show as well) which only furthered my obsession with them. The character of Ryan was actually based on TLOU’s Joel’s voice actor, Troy Baker, aaaand I got really into Ella Eyre’s music who is my face claim for the main character, June.
In Static Cassie applies for a 3-year internship at an underground robotics company, I think you can put the rest of it together. Someone you think is a human WILL turn out to be a robot.
I was still riding a video game high (I mean, am I ever not?) and at the time Portal 2 and Soma were huge favourites of mine and so I really wanted to do something with robots. I put the story together in two weeks because I was Pre-Frenzy at the time and didn’t have a lot of time to prepare for NaNoWriMo but it was still cool to write my own robot-centric story. SUGOI’s entire character is based on GLaDOS and the whole “is a copy of my consciousness me?” dilemma also played a part in the main conflict of the story.
Vale Supernatural assassin, yada-yada.
Dishonored. BUT ALSO. Excuse you, the protagonist of Vale can’t actually stop time, she only slows it down to a crawl and the more she moves the more time moves so technically it’s more like Superhot. So watch your mouth.
