Hello everyone! My name’s Perry and I’m a disabled queer writer and illustrator. I’m between jobs right now, and I need to pay for the internet bill and dental care.
I would really appreciate some commissions right now! I can do a painterly style and a quicker watercolor style, of any character. Please contact me via tumblr messages, payment will be via paypal.
If you can’t afford commissions, I can gladly draw you something smaller for a cheaper price. I also have a ko-fi! Reblogs are also appreciated, thank you!
If you don’t watch the news like me then you missed the breaking news so I figured I’d post it here for all my fellow Australians: if you’re in NSW VIC or QLD and have bought strawberries from woolworths this past week then CHUCK THEM OUT they found sewing needles in multiple of them.
VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE
On the news of the strawberry epidemic 6 brands have been named for containing dangerous materials and being contaminated, if you have purchase from the following and don’t want to chuck them out then PLEASE wash them and cut them up!
Donnybrook berries
Berry obsession
Berry licious
Love Berry
Delightful strawberry
Oasis
They currently think that some of them have been copycat cases. Stay safe xo
I don’t think enough people really understand yet exactly how horrific this fire was. This was a loss to our world and species.
This is the kind of fire we think of thousands of years later as the deepest of tragedy. On the scale of the Library of Alexandria. It’s worse than that really. The Library of Alexandria kept copies of books in other locations so historically very little was lost in individual fires over the centuries.
This? We lost so goddamn much in one night.
If you want to help… if you have ANY vacation photos, videos, anything documenting the contents of the museum: You may in fact be the sole owner of a slice of humanity’s soul.
You may have heard about the efforts in Europe to reform copyright law. The debate has been ongoing in the European Parliament for months. If approved next week, these new regulations would require us to automatically filter and block content that you upload without meaningful consideration of your right to free expression.
We respect the copyrights and trademarks of others, and we take all reports seriously to ensure that your creative expression is protected. We make this clear in our Community Guidelines. There’s already a legal framework that works and is fair: Todaywe take down posts and media that contain allegedly infringing content when we receive a valid DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown request. We also provide clear-cut ways for people to fight back if they believe their removed content was not a true violation. These instances are monitored and reported and live in our biannual transparency report.
The suggestion to use automated filters for issues of copyright is short-sighted at best and harmful at worst. Automated filters are unable to determine whether a use should be considered “fair use” under the law and are unable to determine whether a use is authorized by a license agreement. They are unable to distinguish legitimate parody, satire, or even your own personal pictures that could be matched with similar photographs that have been protected by someone else. We don’t believe that technology should replace human judgment.
Tumblr is and always has been a place for creative expression, and these new regulations would only make it harder for you to express yourself with the freedom and clarity you do so now.
If you access Tumblr from Europe and want to act, you can find more information on saveyourinternet.eu.
James Rhodes, a pianist, performed a Bach composition for his Youtube channel, but it didn’t stay up – Youtube’s Content ID system pulled it down and accused him of copyright infringement
because Sony Music Global had claimed that they owned 47 seconds’ worth
of his personal performance of a song whose composer has been dead for
300 years.
Just last week, German music professor Ulrich Kaiser posted his research
on automated censorship of classical music, in which he found that it
was nearly impossible to post anything by composers like Bartok,
Schubert, Puccini and Wagner, because companies large and small have
fraudulently laid claim to their whole catalogs.
Europeans have one week to contact their MEPs to head off this catastrophe.
Stop what you’re doing and contact two friends in the EU right now and send them to Save Your Internet – before it’s too late.
recuva – accidentally deleted something in the recycling bin? recover it back with this program!
speccy – tells you the specs of your computer, among other things
defraggler – defrag the SHIT out of your hard drive and clean it right up
This is a great post what makes it even better is that most of these you can get from Ninite which will download and install the latest versions of all available software ALL AT ONCE without you having to worry about adware or the annoying clutter (toolbars, changing your default search engine) that sometimes comes with their individual installers. So, yeah. Have at it folks.
For posterity.
Good lord this is awesome.
Reblogging for those who might need it, and also to add
which is very intuitive and very free. It also has a very decent line stabilisation function.
I’ve used a lot of these for, well, decades in some cases. Quality programs!
*There are also the Ice Cream Apps which are pretty okay. The Free versions are nerfed pretty hard, but they serve their purpose. ♥ And, yeah, switch to Sumatra. That program changed my damn life~
Apparently my One Fear shirt post rubbed some people the wrong way. Oh well.
Here’s my stance on the meme: I don’t give a shit; that bell’s never getting unrung. People still use that meme format three entire years later, I’m not expecting it to go anywhere anytime soon. Sometimes they credit me and that’s nice but usually they don’t and who fucking cares?
The thing I do hate is when people make money off of it. That objectively sucks. I never see any of that money. I’ve filed so many DMCA notices and it works maybe 20% of the time. Fuck RedBubble in particular. That’s why I put up the shirts on my store: https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/1711278-one-fear?product_id=315
Anyway, long story short: I don’t give a shit about memes because I’m not 14 but I do care deeply about money so everybody has to buy my shirt or I’ll sue you.
apparently the EPA said asbestos is “safe” again, which is good news for asbestos memes, and bad news for literally everyone else
Someone may be asking about what asbestos actually IS so I’ll write up a quick summary.
Asbestos are a kind of natural silicate fiber. They’re really durable and resist heat and fire really well, which is why people had started using them to make buildings and fabrics fireproof back during the 20th century. Hence things like asbestos electric hotframe insulation, building insulation, carpeting, curtains, even oven mitts.
The problem with this is that asbestos can and will tear off into microfibers and get into the air, where it’s really easy to breathe in. These fibers though are still mineral, and once they get into the lungs they start shredding through the cell tissues and cause bleeding, inflammation, scarring, and cancer. Hell there’s a disease specifically CALLED asbestosis cause it’s that significant. It’s been banned in the EU for a while, and the US had previously put strong restrictions on its use.
Y’know that “If you or a love one have been affected my mesothelioma, you may be qualified for financial compensation” meme? That’s asbestos. And if state governments don’t start restricting asbestos use in buildings, it may become your problem too.
