When interacting with police, its the POLICE who have been trained to deal with a myriad of potentially dangerous situations. Its their JOB to act and react in the best possible way to anything a person might say or do. People, especially black people, should not need to be on their best behavior when talking to cops if they want to live.
So I dont give a shit if someone is screaming profanity at them while holding a steak knife. Its never the cop’s job to kill them.
Killing people is not the police’s job. Ever.
So no. None of those killer cops was never “just doing their job” and they should be able to deal with high tension situations better than any civilian. There’s no excuse.
This is quite possibly the dumbest thing I’ve read.
Let’s make a post that totally tries to get citizens off the hook for acting in a civilized manner. Because citizens can just be assholes and if you choose a profession too help the majority you can’t defend yourself from idiot psychos.
Sweet.
Do you think cops should be able to shoot and kill people who are rude to them?
Rude? No. But if they have a weapon? Even if it’s a knife, then I think they have every right to use extreme measures to take that person down.
Instead of like, a taser? Or any other form of deescalation? Just shoot and murder anyone who might maybe be a threat?
Sweetie I know you don’t go outside much but a fucking taser wont do jack shit
Have you ever been tased? If not to non-lethally incapacitate an assailant, what are they for?
Tasers can kill people too, firstly.
Secondly, pretend you are a cop for a second. If a man is charging at you with a weapon, is the first thing you do grab a taser or your gun? You have only a milisecond to decide. Yes you reach for your gun because it gets the job done from a distance to keep the officer safe.A police officer’s job is to kill, they are trained to kill. My law enforcement teacher told me that, she was a retired officer herself. She knows damn more about law enforcement than you do. If killing someone means keeping the officer and more importantly civilians safe then so be it. The officers job is to keep us safe at all costs and honey just a taser wont cut it.
If cops are “trained to kill” that might explain ehy our rate of police killings is so much fucking higher in the us than in other countries.
Other countries do not have this problem.
People seem to forget that cops aren’t the only people who deal with people in crisis. Lawyers, doctors and nurses, mental health professionals, social workers – anyone in the human services field, work with the same people as police do. And we do it without guns. We don’t want guns. Hell, I don’t even have security in our building, and I have to greet these criminals with a smile as they walk in my office. I understand the risk involved and I can quit if I really wanted to. But I also know how to deescalate a situation and have the responsibility to help these people. Cops need to understand this and if they can’t handle it, they need to leave the profession before they kill someone.
