Signe: just cause this building is a repurposed prison doesn’t mean you can’t get some ibuprofen when your womb is falling out of your ass.

It’s kinda funny how both The Rains Come and Vale kind of end in similar ways. The Rains Come ends with them defeating the baddies and then Nuori sets up the new order and then June leaves, and Vale ends with

NaNovel announced, I have never so aggressively not known what I was doing for NaNo before but… alright…
some writer snob somewhere: Do not start sentences with But or And because doing so is grammatically incorrect.
me, writing my fic: But I don’t care. And you can’t stop me.
Sometimes…..the flow of your creative prose…..is more important….than grammatical guidelines,,,,,,
Your OCs, for some inexplicable
but probably well deservedreason, are trying to hunt you down. However, you get to choose one OC to defend you against the rest. Given that you are on their turf and are also allowed to defend yourself (though only to the extent that your physical body would realistically let you) who would you choose to be on your side?archie. everyone likes archie. everyone else are true evils and deserve to be defeated.
Morlene’s the only person that could stop Vale from killing me. Not even Cephas, probably.
Edit: oh they’re all trying to kill me? Then Angel, definitely. They’re the dopest, nobody can get through them.
No emotions. I’m a snowflake in the wind.
“Honestly?” Mason’s expression darkens and Cephas’ heart drops to his stomach. Even in the most trying days of the revolution he’s never seen the woman like this. “I’ve been doing a lot of planning shit, designating troops, handing out weapons, patching up fighters, and I could just see Angel and Morlene walk in and out of here and I’ve just been… dammit… this motherfucker right here…”
Mason laughs dryly.
“We’ll bring her back.”
“She’s weird, right?” Mason steps over to Vale and crouches down next to her. “Like, she’s so unpleasant. Zero manners, she says dumb shit just to annoy people, nothing she says is even remotely funny, and she’s so sure she’s the coolest person in the room, it’s infuriating…”
“You dated her.”
“I did,” Mason chuckles. “It was great. We liked each other a lot, our dates ruled. But she was a criminal and I was guard commander. Even if I was just a tool so she could get close to the High Castle and Zavier, I didn’t mind. I just never understood her. Why not use all her skills to become a hero? Yeah, yeah, she doesn’t owe Caelmoor anything… but still… there’s so much good in her and she fights so hard to hide it.”
“If she heard this she’d kill you,” Cephas grunts, slightly agitated for reasons beyond his understanding. He feels like he could punch Mason. “She’d hate you for putting her on a pedestal.”
“You know, Cephas, you changed each other so much,” Mason smiles. “Have you noticed? You, the sheepish little outcast who wouldn’t even bloody his sword, you look at me like you just want to start a fight. And Vale, this selfish dick so far up her own ass would rather die than have to live without the people she loves… it’s incredible…”
“I want to get drunk,” Cephas says and stands up, only slightly towering above Mason as she straightens up too. “You wanna get drunk?”
“Always, but I have some other stuff to do right now,” Mason nods as Cephas begins to leave the room. “But do yourself and Vale a favour and be smart. She’s counting on you.”
“What am I going to do if I lose her?”
“You’re not,” Lourdes states confidently. “You’re gonna get sleep then we’ll figure it out. We won’t stop until we do. And when we’re done with this all we’re taking a damn holiday, let me tell you that.”
“Sounds like something that will never actually happen because one of us is inevitably killed right before we could reach our narratively deserved happiness.”
“Oh, you sounded so much like Vale just now, ew.”
“I mean someone’s gotta do it.”
“Literally nobody’s gotta do it.”
Mason: I’ll tear the whole mountain down if I have to before dooming another person to die because the king likes his castles high. Welcome to the fucking parade!
Me:

“It might be hard to understand but…“
I pause to give Lourdes some time to tell me that it’s actually really easy to understand so I don’t need to explain it.
