Love Yourself: Answer after-first-listen “review”
- Euphoria – I know this has been out for some time but wasn’t on Spotify before so I purposely refused to watch the video so I would have more new stuff to listen to once the album came out x) Anyway I read a blog the other day about whether Jungkook should be the main vocalist at all and to that I say umm, excuse you? I wanted to put the vocal line’s solos in order but it’s impossible, they’re all too beautiful.
- Trivia: Just Dance – if it was possible to love J-Hope even more than it happened. also this reminds me of something Years&Years would release? it’s cool
- Serendipity – I’m a tiiiny bit sad that Jimin didn’t get a new new solo but I mean four and a half minutes of THIS SONG? Yes PleasE!?!??!
- DNA – after this song came out last year whatever and it somehow got on my Spotify monthly playlist this is what I wrote next to it – and I don’t often add comments on my song choices – “(shut uppppp, it’s catchy!)”… if i had only known…
- Dimple – I know this is about a girl or whatever but this song always makes me happy because it reminds me of Namjoon cause he got dimples for days :3333
- Trivia: Love – is cute, it didnt stand out at first but it will in time, i know it
- Her – i mean it’s always been my favourite outro and i dont love it less here ♥
- Singularity – how does his voice go so deep??? Scientists everywhere are blushing
- Fake Love – bitch im still salty the part that plays in the second teaser isnt actually in any of these versions, give me that intermezzo or give me deathhhh
- The Truth Untold – my heart, torn out of my chest, thanks
- Trivia: Seesaw – the way to my heart is yoongi singing ♥
- Tear – my relationship with this song is still complicated. it is amazing, and it is no doubt the best outro (i know what i said five songs ago) but it just upsets me on a visceral level, i cant say why, its just overwhelming and upsetting for me
- Epiphany – i know that if i tried to write down how i feel about this song id be a puddle of tears within ten seconds so im not going to, ill just say this is the most beautiful song ive ever heard (i know what i said twelve songs ago) and jin’s voice is out of this world.
- I’m Fine – to the first little save me snippet: don’t fucking do that to me again. otherwise: this song reached “Best of Me” status while it was still playing for the first time (I’ll tell you in a bit what that means), I think this might just be my favourite of the new tracks
- IDOL – this song kicked down my door, called me an ugly bitch then left through the window. no but seriously, i love bad bitch energies this song is dripping off. its not as melodic as most other comeback singles i believe but it still BoPs
- Answer: Love Myself – look guys it dont got an outro, it got an answer, and its the title of the album but flipped around, get it? im gonna write a proper album review later but the point is that i havent been on this ride for nearly long enough (or have i? so much has happened, these three weeks were really overwhelming x)) and i dont claim to know even half as much as i would love to (like, generally) but i know that at the end of the day you have these seven young guys singing about loving themselves and then you have millions upon millions of fans, younger, older, whatever, from all over the world, who will be sitting down listening to this song and sing along lines such as “you showed me i have reasons i should love myself” and “im learning to love myself”. is it cheesy? ya. is that bad? nO SIR IT AINT. either way i know im so much richer having these guys and their music and this album in my life and you cant deny how much happiness theyre bringing to the world.
The second disc is fine I mean, nothing that new here. I’m glad they put Best of Me on here because umm I fucking can’t listen to that song without crying so if I want to cry I’ll just whip this one out, thanks for uh… thanks for putting that on here. Much… much appreciated I guess? Then fuck you for not giving me the Fake Love that I wanted but god bless for the full version of Steve Aoki’s remix of Mic Drop I FINALLY LIVE
Oh and Nicki’s verse is pretty good in Idol, I actually expected her to be more feature on the track and I’m kinda bummed out she isn’t :[
