Eeehhh, but there is ugly though. Not according to feminism, of course, but according to “western standards” there is. Overweight and non-white are also one of the things that makes people ugly by these standards and luckily there’s tons of representation and appreciation for those, it’s great and I’d never want that to stop, but where are the rest of those who don’t hit the bar? And if there really is no ugly, then why aren’t there girls with pockmarks and scars and bad teeth and huge underbites and bad postures and surgery scars and greasy hair and lazy eyes and terrible acne in these body positive shoots?
Supporting and validating overweight and non-white people exist because these are considered ugly by western standards, so just the existence of these campaigns proves that there is ugly and we very much care about it, even if for the purpose of defeating it.
It’s probably a bad analogy but let’s say it’s a bit like all LGTBQ+ representation included was gay people. It’s great and I’d never want them to be less represented but there are a lot of letters in that acronym left that all would love a piece of that delicious cake of representation. Y’knowwhatImean? I’m bad at explaining.
