Hey, I’ve been following you a quite some time and I still don’t know what a Critical Role actually is? Would you explain it to a clueless person like me :)

Hey there! I’d be more than happy to because it’s my favourite thing ever o/

Critical Role is a weekly stream of a group of friends and voice actors (mostly from video games and animated shows) playing Dungeons & Dragons (which is a tabletop roleplaying game, v nerdy, its what them Stranger Things kids were playing in the first episode if you’ve seen that ^^). They all have characters that they roleplay as through several story arcs the game master or dungeon master (essentially the narrator) builds for them (originally fantasy-themed but I mean literally whatever they can imagine works). They all have stats and weapons and feats and stuff and technically they just roll dice and roleplay through the story using little more than their imaginations.

It’s really cool cause the cast aren’t just talented actors but also really good friends in real life and so watching them play characters and act out fights and stuff all while sitting next to a table might sound dumb and boring but it’s actually so much fun. It started out as something they did in their own time at home then they started streaming it in 20…15…(?) and everybody fell in love with the show because of how cool it is ^^ They used to have like a couple of hundreds of subscribers and now tens of thousands of people are watching their streams every week and even more the reuploads on youtube.

I do recommend it for anyone who might be interested but it is a pretty big commitment ngl since the episodes are several hours long and there are more than a hundred of them 😀 

This video someone made when we were only about halfway through the first campaign/season is the best thing ever and paints a pretty good picture of what this is all about ^^ and the show can be watched here 🙂

I remember you because you were all such hardcore fans and got band’s attention :) Same with meeting the guys, I would probably die of excitement. Sadly no gig for me this time. Wishing you great time at the concert!

Ahh alright 😀 yeah i have this huge ass flag i carry around to every show im p sure people hate me for it every time (im actually gonna get a smaller one in march just so i can be less annoying x)) but it was also cool cause when we were in vienna someone halfway through the show slammed into me from behind and started yelling in hungarian and he was screaming “IM HUNGARIAN TOO THIS SHOWS SO FUCKING COOL” good memories, good memories :’)

oh no, im sorry :/ but the era’s just beginning and they tend to tour for AGES so hopefully you’ll get more chances to see them ♄♄ 

Hey, I remember you from Editors gig in Ljubljana, you were in a first row with the girls from Croatia and Germany :) Did you also met the guys after that show?

Eyooo, yeah we were o/ Where were you? (I could tell you ill remember but i probably wont i have a very bad memory x)) Umm I’m not sure about my friends, they probably did meet them or at least hung around for a bit (see? shit memory, my friend probably told me if they did meet them but i definitely forgot, I know my croatian friend’s met them a few times before). I took off right after the show cause we had the zagreb show to get to the next day and i was desperate to get some hours of sleep and rest. I’m not that keen on meeting the guys cause im way too anxious, im certain i would embarrass myself somehow and then i could never go to another show again 😀

theres no ljubljana show this time tho (booo), are you going to any others?

36. Post a snippet

NNnynnyyyyynynnyyyyy okay, this is from Vale, obviously, my most prized WIP and I’m a good writer. This is a scene from after Vale almost gets Cephas killed and she goes back to the team’s headquarters to say goodbye before winter cause winters are a big deal in this story.

           “I killed Talbot,” I laugh awkwardly as that’s the only other thing I can think of right now. Cephas shakes even more, like a newborn bunny. “Uh, Mason’s not giving us the book cause she wanted her alive so
 I also killed a whole bunch of other people too so
 someone call the undertaker when spring comes around, am I right?”

           “Stop,” Cephas says voicelessly and squeezes his eyes shut.

           “I’ll be off now so
 I’ll check in when I can but you know
 I’m just a snowflake in the w-
”

           “Where would you go?” Cephas asks through a layer of phlegm in his throat, breathing through his mouth as his eyes water up. “What are you going to do?”

           “People love hiring me in the winter,” I laugh again. This is actually the truth. “It’s my favourite season, I don’t have to put on disguises to track people down, no need to con my way through scenes of bullshit, I just figure out where someone lives and pop them through the window. Easy cash.”

           “You’re hurt, stay here,” Morlene offers and Lourdes is nodding vigorously by her side.

           “Nah,” I take a step back towards the door. “Alright, so
 there’s firewood, there’s food, Cephas, I assume you’re staying for winter? Is it okay that he recovers here? You have enough food to last all four of you?”

           “Of course,” Morlene nods. “You should stay, Vale.”

           “Cool,” I throw up a thumb and put my hand on the handle. “I wish you all a lovely winter, don’t be naughty and I’ll see you soon.”

           “Vale.”

           “You guys fucking love my name today,” I scoff but before I could dodge the incoming attack, Cephas is limping towards me with his right arm squeezed against his side, and uses the left to wrap it around me and pull me in for an embrace.

           Without a doubt I’m not doing well at the moment but some of what’s happening is coming through. I put my right arm around Cephas’ back where I feel the layers of bandage helping his wound to heal and tap it lightly. He buries his head into my shoulder and breathes loudly. Surely he’s not crying
.. right?

           “Alright now, I know what you’re doing,” I say, quietly. “You stay here, heal up, yeah? Help out Morlene when you’re able. I’ll be around before spring.”

           “It wasn’t your fault.”

           “Don’t even start,” I say and push him away gently. From up closer he looks way more horrific, with every little vein around his eyes pale blue. I pat his face twice then open the door behind me. “Stay warm, everybody. Except you, Lourdes.”

           “Fuck you.”

54. Favorite first line/opening you’ve written?

Because I suck at beginnings (lol whoever says endings are hard cause anyone can write an opening clearly never had to write an opening) I only remember the one for July 14th cause I rewrote it like a hundred times.

“Don’t go where the trees are sparse.”

And then she goes where the trees are sparse and she gets trapped in a magical train station with a bunch of other kids where a bad train comes to take them away from time to time, it’s fun.

6. Favorite character you’ve written?

I mean, it has to be Howard from Leaper, I just love her so much, she’s so goofy and absent-minded but then you find out her backstory which I never wrote down so you won’t but I know what it is, and she’s just the best.

9. Favorite/least favorite tropes?

My least favourite trope would be love triangles that suck (cause I wrote one that doesn’t suck so suck it) and conflicts born out of miscommunication/lack of communication. It’s the worst and you won’t ever catch me do that. And boy, I have fave tropes for days, enemies to best friends is one of them and also people being separated by something is another one of them, especially if it’s time cause I dig time-related stuff.

17. What things (scenes/topics/character types) are you most comfortable writing?

I’m not comfortable with writing as a whole ;_; Juuust kidding I think I always aim to write about people working together or people supporting each other in one way or another at least lately. I think the best character/relationship dynamics I write come from scenes where you’d expect someone to not believe someone else or reject the other but instead says “okay I’ll help you” or “okay I believe you”, if that makes sense.

21. What aspect of your writing are you most proud of?

Uuuuuuh none aspect. Okay no uh I think when choosing an ending for my stories I usually make the right choice 😀 I can always think of a few dozen ways to end a story but I tend to choose the one that just works the best and is what the story deserves. At least I like to think that.

26. What’s the most research you’ve ever put into a book?

I googled the word “time” for Leaper once. Okay not really, I did a lot of research for The Rains Come cause I needed to know which state has what kind of weather during different parts of the year, and I looked up like, types of trees for July 14th. I don’t like research at all, it confuses me so I just make stuff up on the go and nobody can tell me that’s not how it works cause it doesn’t exist o/ Suspension of disbelief who?

35. Post the last sentence you wrote 

Jesus, okay. Lol would you look at that, it’s the last sentence of Vale.

           “But it’s very much like it.”

46. Past or present tense?

Past is my go-to tense because I find it comes to me the easiest but I tend to write in present tense when time is somehow involved in the story. Leaper, In Static, and Vale are all in present tense and time is a crucial part of the resolution. But even then I have to fix myself a lot where I slip back into past tense.

53. What is the first line of your WIP?

“Chapter 1″ lol

Ok no, the first line of Vale is “Fun fact: necks are easy to
break.” 

54. Favorite first line/opening you’ve written?

I uh already answered this in an ask I accidentally answered privately and now I’m waiting for them to send it back so I can publish it so you’ll find out then x)

You know what I love Drew and I miss that little peanut, I hope I finish that story one day *_* Thank yooouuu ♄♄

07. Is there a catchphrase or sound that they tend to make a lot (likely without being aware of it)?

Umm I don’t know if it counts as a catchphrase, probably not but if it does then it’s kinda sad but I’ll say it anyways, like they talk about themselves in third person and like say their name out loud, cause their name’s Drew but their family doesn’t use that name, so when they’re with friends they just keep mentioning their own name like “Drew thinks” or “Drew’s gonna” this and that. They usually don’t notice it, it’s just sort of one of those ~personality traits that are specific to when you’re with a group of people.

((but there’s also a part when they do it on purpose and consciously and it’s like the best part in the whole story, and when i write it y’all are gonna be like wow this is so cool))

08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?

They don’t have any flaw, they’re perfect forever.

Okay, no but Drew’s faults are pretty much things that come out positively elsewhere so it’s hard to notice. Like they’ll always prioritise helping someone else before they help themselves, or they’re good at giving advice in hard times but only because they’re going through hard times as well and refuse to take their own advice, that sort of thing. And they’re aware, they’re just… a child 😐

15. Is there a certain person in this world that they cannot stand? The very mention of this person’s name makes them tremble with anger or fear.

1) the dude that harrasses Gemma
2) cops
3) the shadow monster that’s following Jay
4) Griffin’s dad
5) Griffin’s brother

And it’s aaaaaall anger, I don’t think Drew has an ounce of fear in their body.
