Okay, but this is an excellent method to use when anyone is being inappropriate. Pretend that you don’t get it. Whether the comment is sexist, racist, sexual, misogynistic, inappropriate, off-color… watching them squirm as they try to explain and realize just how awful their comment was it is better than being angry about it.

Playing dumb is very effective. When this one company I worked for asked me to do something sketchy I left a note saying “I’m not sure I understand. I thought we couldn’t do […] because it was illegal? Was I incorrect? Is […] something you want me to do?” And they quickly changed their minds. It works much better than a straight accusation if you’re in a vulnerable position.

PSA to our followers this Autism Acceptance Month:

endangeredbodiesnyc:

  • Use Autism **Acceptance** Month (as opposed to Autism Awareness Month).
  • NO “light it up blue” or puzzle pieces. Google “Autism Speaks hate group” to learn more.
  • Use red or gold instead, which are colors supported by the autistic community.
  • Use identity-first language (most autistic people prefer “autistic” instead of “person with autism”), but don’t police the language of someone who prefers to be called a person with autism.
  • NO scare terms like “suffering with autism” or “afflicted with autism.”
  • Avoid functioning labels like “high functioning” or “low functioning.”
  • If autistic voices are not at the center of your efforts, you’re doing it wrong.
  • When in doubt, ASK AN AUTISTIC PERSON.
  • To learn more about autism, visit autistic-run organizations like the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) and Autism Women’s Network (AWN).

Damn those McElroy boys are Woke as Fuck™ though

And honestly I’m super on board with it – they have a level of
awareness and understanding, not only of their audience, but of the wider social and historical context in which they present their ideas, that I don’t think I’ve ever seen
in any other content creators, and they are hyper-conscious of the impact they
have on people and the responsibility they have
to make that impact as positive as possible

They also show how goddamn easy it is to be diverse and
inclusive and respectful if you just do your research and ask for input from
the relevant folks

And yeah they’re not infallible and every so often maybe they don’t
quite hit the mark for some people but it’s their willingness to apologise and learn and, most
importantly, try again next time that makes me so full of joy and respect for
these dudes

@p-assthroughfire what i was saying in that long darned reply i sent u sorry xD

I finally made a gofundme for top surgery! I’m feelin pretty embarrassed for asking others for money but I had to at least try. Added some pics bc I personally feel better having a face to go with a name. So hi my names Kia, please help me out!

This being tumblr n all I’m sure y’all are familiar with the drill. Dysphoria, pain, mental health, boobs suck, etc. If you could donate even a couple of dollars I’d hugely appreciate it. I’m also giving away custom drawings for donations $50 and over if you’re interested in supporting and also happen to want some art.
Check out my page https://www.gofundme.com/kias-top-surgery-fund
