so i stayed up until 3am last night playing Thousand Year-Old Vampire, a solo tabletop/diary game about an immortal predator’s struggle to hold onto their memories across the ages, and i love it

so far Claudia has forgotten about her husband, how she became a vampire, and almost everything about her life in Roman times, and took up the name Avina when she moved herself (and the servant-cult she turned her husband’s bloodline into) to Visigothic Iberia

she’s now made up a new origin story for herself, accidentally created a vampire herself (of a local lover, a girl named Brunihild), and is being pursued by the vengeful ghost of a Roman woman whose mother she killed

i was really excited to figure out what the Moorish conqust and then Reconquista would look like for Avina, but my next roll was “you’re discovered and driven to a far-off land,” so now she’s miserable in Saxon Britain

all she remembers of Rome is her first gay lover, a girl named Aurellia, and she’s terrified of losing that memory (i’ve had her forget much more useful things in order to protect it)

This looks really cool, also, I’ve never heard of a solitaire RPG before so that’s really interesting as well 😮

Magic Weapon: Thoughts & Prayers

A lot of you have probably seen something like this before. If you google “dnd magic item”, one of the first things that shows up is a post by @sskyeh (original tweet here) that says…

“D&D item: twin brass knuckles named Thoughts & Prayers that deal psychic and radiant damage respectively”.

Well, people loved that idea and have made a few different versions:

This is my own spin. Grab the PDF version here.

(P.S., if you’re familiar with Old Norse and Futhark Runes, you’ll notice that the engravings on the knuckles are quite appropriate.)

…..this is absolutely fuckin brilliant and I want IRL ones.
