do yall wanna hear something fucked up?

a character with a 20 in one of their ability scores only succeeds 50% more often than someone with a 1 in the same ability score

Yeah…

That is primary school statistics, bard

dont fuckin patronize me its not great design that a character with max stats is only a coinflip better than a character with the literal minimum stats

But he’s right tho bard

both of yall are blocked, from my heart, for patronizing me for posting some fun dnd facts on my dnd blog

What difference does it make that Nothic is or is not right? Bard put in the effort to show me something I didn’t know. I’m glad that I now know this information, and would like to say Thank you Bard.

No need to patronize someone for sharing a neat statistic. Take your negativity elsewhere. I’m sick and tired of people making random shit into drama.

On a big scale, it’s pretty fucked up

But I think it’s even more fucked up on a minor scale.

Oh, you’ve been a woodcarver for 15 years, granting you proficiency? You are 10% more likely to succeed than someone who never touched a piece of wood.

You have a 12 in an ability score, putting you clearly above the average human being? More like 5% better

Passive checks with stuff like history make a LOT more sense- then your 17 is good and your 10 is not so the stats make more of a difference

Knowledge checks aren’t based on luck in the moment generally so….
